Guys if you can play again the scene where Ghost and Roach was shot by Gen. Sheperd try to look down in front of roach where his front mags are positioned and you'll see that the top of his mags has holes comparable to M4 airsoft mags.

yes, but you see, operators usually put their mags into their pouches upside-down so what you are really looking at is the hole in the bottom :P

My guess is that there is a hole on the bottom of the magazine to allow water that would otherwise accumulate and foul up your gun to drain.
